Intense lobbying for the post of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president has begun with strong indications that present incumbent, Prasad Harichandan would be asked to quit sooner rather than later. Speculation with regard to his successor was fuelled further as three senior state leaders including former PCC chief, Niranjan Patnaik had a meeting with AICC vice-president, Rahul Gandhi in Delhi earlier this week. While Patnaik has a bunch of loyalists rooting for him, his rival camp is keen to prop up someone close to Harichandan. As suspense over the issue continues, party in the state remains in a limbo following the drubbing in the recent panchayat polls.
