For one and a half decades, Odisha has shown remarkable growth, commitment to progress along with political stability. It has grown @ 8% and is poised to grow @ 12% by 2020. The state capital Bhubaneswar, in the meantime has topped in the smart city list and is set to attract lot of investment opportunities in IT and startup sectors.
Odisha Government has envisaged a plan to attract investments worth Rs. 2.25 lakh crore by 2020, which may generate 10 lakh jobs. To achieve this, the state is expanding the industrial base and has started a new initiative called ‘New Odisha Industrial Development Plan – 2020’. The interested Companiesare also looking to boost the startup ecosystem in the State, which has tie-up arrangement with TiE Silicon Valley, a US-based non-profit organisation encouraging entrepreneurship, and OYO Rooms to set up a startup hub at Bhubaneshwar. Odisha plans to spend about two per cent of the annual budget towards development of information technology in the state. It aims to establish Odisha as a one-stop destination for industries.
Odishais one of the most progressive States in the country. The State is the first to have set up an e-biz portal, an online portal to fast track hurdles in different departments. An online common inspection framework is in place for assessment of industries, which is helpful to industrialists and policy makers.
The Union government is making a number of corrections on the policy front so as to make India an easy place to do business. All the State governments are trying their best to present to the world the enormous opportunities that their states offer; as a base for manufacturing, design, research and development. Now, competition is open to all and Odisha has a fair chance to excel, if required corrections are made and we don’t repeat the mistakes committed earlier.
At such an opportune moment, Odisha Industry Special supplement is being released. The entrepreneurs, law makers, bureaucrats, intellectuals, students and the general public shall make best use of the articles, statistical data published in this issue and extend a helping hand to make Odishaa vibrant state. We never got disappointed for the cool response received from the organisations like IDCO, IPICOL, OCAC, TATA STEEL and few so called major Banks operating in the state. We believe, these institutions have never helped Odisha to raise its proud head straight upright. Had they done their duty, Odisha would have touched the sky.
However, despite the impediments and hurdles, we reiterate our commitment for the growth and prosperity of Odishathrough sustainable industrial revolution. Our endeavour shall continue.
