In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (a) of sub-section (1) read with sub-section (4) of Section 8 of the Reserve Bank of India Act 1934, the Central Government appointed Shri Shaktikanta Das, IAS Retd. (TN:80), former Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, as Governor, Reserve Bank of India (RBI), for a period of three years. A Notification to this effect was issued yesterday by the Government of India.
