Like every years, last year also, to inculcate the entrepreneurial mindsets among the students and to encourage the research scholars to convert their innovations to business, StartUp Odisha, the StartUp Secretariat of MSME department of Government of Odisha had organized a mammoth initiative, known as “Odisha StartUp Yatra-2023” throughout the state of Odisha that ignited the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship among the students of the Higher Educational Institutions across the state. It witnessed the participation of over 26,200 students through 203 Van camps and 60 bootcamps, garnering a total of 2634 ideas. One such Van camp and Boot camp have been organized in the MSCB University, Baripada in the last year (2023) and 3 such ideas have been felicitated by the StartUp Odisha. Among those 3 ideas 2 ideas have been selected for the final presentation at the O-Hub, Bhubaneswar on the last 29th of January.

Presented by the University’s research scholars- Gautam Singh, Smrutirekha Mahanta, Sushmita Ghadei and Shukdev Das, under the supervision of Dr. Gargee Mohanty, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology of the University have been placed among the top 10 projects and received a Seed Fund of Rs.3 lakh each on the final event-“StartUp Utsavv” on 31st January at the O-Hub, Bhubaneswar. The students were accompanied by the Chief Executive Officer of the University’s Start-up Incubation Center, Er. Saumaryanjan Mishra, who encouraged and motivated them throughout their journey towards this achievement.

Shri Pratap Keshari Dev, Hon’ble Minister MSME, in his Keynote Address at Startup Utsavv 2024 said that Odisha has all the natural resources required for its growth in abundance. He said that Odisha’s youth should think along the lines of entrepreneurship and strive to be a job-givers rather than a job-seeker. He said that the Government wholeheartedly supports the youth in their entrepreneurial aspirations and ventures and is imparting the required skill sets to the youth so that they can achieve their goals and fulfill their dreams.

It’s notable that for the last two years, the start-up projects of Baripada’s Maharaja Sriramchandra Bhanjdeo University have been receiving such honors and awards, and this year the university has the distinction of being the only State Government University in the entire state to win 2 awards at once. The present Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof. Santosh Tripathi and the former Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kishore Kumar Besa congratulated the students on this achievement.
