The government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi is doing everything possible to take India forward. The steps being taken are in keeping with the promises he has been making to the people of the country. He is a Prime Minister who believes in walking the talk.
Narendra Modi, the longest serving BJP Prime Minister of the country, has often been referred to as “karmyogi” because of his obsession with work. It has always been work with a purpose which is reflected in the raft of schemes that the NDA government led by him has launched since 2014 when he first occupied the top executive office of the country.
One of the focus areas for his government has been caring for the girl child with the slogan of eti Bachao, Beti Padhao (save and educate girls) and ‘Beta Beti, Ek Samaan’ (boys and girls are equal). “Let us celebrate the birth of the girl child. We should be equally proud of our daughters. I urge you to sow five plants when your daughter is born to celebrate the occasion,” the Prime Minister said when he adopted the village Jayapur.
Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) was launched by the Prime Minister on 22nd January, 2015 at Panipat, Haryana. BBBP addresses the declining Child Sex Ratio (CSR) and related issues of women empowerment over a life-cycle continuum. It is a tri-ministerial effort of Ministries of Women and Child Development, Health & Family Welfare.
Similarly, leveraging the power of JAM (Jan Dhan, Aadhar and Mobile) has been a major effort of the NDA government. JAM vision, will serve as the bedrock of many initiatives to come, the Prime Minister said, adding that JAM is about Just Achieving Maximum, maximum value for every rupee spent, maximum empowerment for our poor and maximum technology penetration among the masses.
Even so many years after Independence, India still had a large part of the population who had no access to banking services. This meant, they had neither any avenues for savings, nor any opportunity to get institutional credit. The Prime Minister launched the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana on 28th August to address this fundamental issue. Within a matter of months, this scheme radically transformed lives and futures of crores of people.
The Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana is also a significant initiative. ‘One of the biggest problems for us has been that our development model has been supply-driven. A scheme has been prepared in Lucknow, Gandhi Nagar, or Delhi. The same is attempted to be injected. We want to shift this model from supply-driven to demand driven through Adarsh Gram. There should be an urge developed in the village itself. All we need is to change our mind set. We need to unite people’s hearts,” said Modi.
The NDA Government is right now focused on giving a boost to entrepreneurship. The ‘Make in India’ initiative is based on four pillars to boost entrepreneurship in India, not only in manufacturing but also in other sectors. ‘Make in India’ recognizes ‘ease of doing business’ as the single most important factor to promote entrepreneurship.
The Prime Minister has made the cleaning of river Ganga his life’s mission. ‘It’s my destiny to serve Maa Ganga’ said Modi when he was elected in May 2014 to Parliament from Varanasi, situated on the banks of Ganga in Uttar Pradesh. The River Ganga is important not only for
its cultural and spiritual significance but also because it hosts more than 40% of the country’s population. Addressing the Indian community at Madison Square Garden in New York in 2014, the Prime Minister had said, “If we are able to clean it, it will be a huge help for the 40 per cent population of the country.”
India has set off on an ambitious mission to provide electricity to 18,000 villages which are still in darkness after almost 7 decades of independence. PM Modi, in one of his Independence Day speeches had announced that all remaining villages should be electrified within 1000 days. Rural electrification is happening at a rapid pace, and is being done in an unbelievably transparent manner. Data on villages being electrified is available to the public through a mobile app and a web dashboard. India is definitely changing.
The government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi is doing everything possible to take India forward. The steps being taken by the Prime Minister are in keeping with the promises he has been making to the people of the country. He is a Prime Minister who believes in walking the talk.
